Issue #58 - September 23, 2004

Hey Jammers! This newsletter was created as a direct link to the fans. If you would like to ask a question about Pearl Jam, please direct your questions (not fan club issues) to OfTheSea@aol.com or DigitalKat@aol.com. We're off now...into the Pit!

It's Showtime...

Yes, the time is here! The No Vote Left Behind show in Seattle, two Boston shows and the seven Vote for Change dates are right around the corner. Hopefully, everyone who wants to attend has scored their tickets and will be adding their voices to what should be some amazing shows. With Death Cab for Cutie and Gob Roberts opening for Pearl Jam at the Boston and VFC shows, sans the finale in DC, how could these shows not be amazing! Although there won't be an official PJ bootleg of the VFC shows, there may be for the Boston shows. Fear not - Pearl Jam's normal taping/camera policy is in effect for their shows, so you'll be able have your own self-produced memento. Remember to bring non-professional equipment only (see the full policy here).

Speaking of the VFC shows, there is a possibility that the recently added special finale concert on October 11 could be webcast...no details available yet. And for those who asked, each band will get about twenty-two minutes to perform at the finale. Subject to change of course...ya never know what will happen...it's rock 'n' roll.

Don't Soon Forget...

If you haven't already done so, please register to vote. Oh, and don't forget to set your recorders - Pearl Jam will be appearing on the Late Show with David Letterman on September 30.

Timeless Classics...

Pearl Jam have donated their live cover of Bob Dylan's "Masters of War" from their 2003 Bridge School benefit appearance to two worthy causes. The song is available as a download from mustvote.com. All you have to do is get someone who is not yet registered to vote to get off his or her butt and register! How cool is that? Mustvote is a voter registration campaign hell-bent on changing the direction our country is taking.

"Masters of War" is also available on the "Songs And Artists That Inspired Fahrenheit 9/11" due out Oct. 5th. Sony BMG Music is donating one half of its net profits from U.S. sales of this CD to the Fallen Patriot Fund, the charity selected by Michael Moore. The Fallen Patriot Fund of the Mark Cuban Foundation was established to help families of U.S. military personnel who have been killed or seriously injured in the current Iraqi conflict. If you order quickly you can get a Limited Edition Fahrenheit 9/11 T-Shirt while supplies last. Visit the Sony Music Store to place your order.

The Sony release of Pearl Jam's greatest hits will be released sometime in October/November. The double cd is titled Rearviewmirror (Greatest Hits 1991-2003).

A Struggle For Freedom...

Pearl Jam have contributed "Betterman" from their 2003 Bridge School performance to the benefit album entitled, "For The Lady: Dedicated to freeing Aung San Suu Kyi and the courageous people of Burma" to be released by Rhino Records on October 26. Proceeds from the sale of this double CD which features 27 tracks by a variety of caring artists will benefit the non-profit group US Campaign For Burma. Details of Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi's fourteen year long house arrest under the brutal military dictatorship of Burma are available at US Campaign For Burma

Friendly Reminder...

Jack Irons' new album "Attention Dimension" is still available in the 10C Goods section. It features many guest artists including Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard, Les Claypool, Flea, and Eddie Vedder singing a great version of Pink Floyd's "Shine on You Crazy Diamond." It's a must have!

Here Come Da Vinyl, Here Come Da Vinyl...

The Benaroya LP's will start shipping Monday, September 27!
