Keine Ahnung, ob hier jeder einen Rm Account hat, daher hier ein kleiner Bericht aus dem RM Forum:
Simply amazing. This could very well be the best concert I've ever been to.
Where do I begin?....Incredible weather, lots of cool people...
After picking up my 10c seats I saw that I was in section B. Having a pretty high 10c #, I was a little disappointed. Little did I know that B was not behind A, rather it was in between A and C. After wandering blindly trying to find my seat with my buddy, we ended up center-stage, row 11. We could not have asked for more...making it even cooler, we sat next to a guy from PA wearing a Hextall Flyers jersey.
After the band came out they played a few songs, then timed it so they would play Low Light just as the sun was setting. Magnificent.
The highlight of the show, for me, was the final song played during the opening "acoustic" set....THEY FUCKING PLAYED HARD TO IMAGINE!!! The guys had been sitting down at that point, but they all got up and really rocked this song before taking their first break. The crowd, by the way, was obviously standing the whole time.
Throughout the night, Ed made mentions of the hurricane in New Orleans a few times, lending his support (they said the band would donate some $) - and even sent his well wishing to the two cops who arrested him there . Oh yeah...when they first came out, Ed said that Jeff skateboarded the whole way over from Missoula, and that he himself swam.
Another common theme throughout the night were references to Tom Petty, who was playing the Gorge the next night. Repeatedly, Ed had the crowd chant "Hello Tom! Come down, Tom!" Personally, I thought it got a little annoying after a while...but it wouldn't have if Tom had actually come out on stage with them. I didn't particularly care for the fact that the focus was turned to Tom Petty thoughout the night, but what are you gonna do? Ed was probably drunk .
Speaking of which, he really fucked up the lyrics and/or guitar parts for at least three songs (on one of which he said "Tom Petty would never do that...he's a professional...and he practices!"). I don't think it really bothered too many people though...Ed kinda laughed each time, and the crowd got a good chuckle as well.
The low point of the show was definitely "Last Kiss." I don't know why they insist on playing this song still...maybe it was just a chance for everyone (band and audience) to just chill for a few minutes before ripping back into the rockers. Everything from Even Flow to Last Exit to Save You...the energy level was incredible.
Effectively, this was a "greatest hits" type of show. They whipped out Crown of Thorns, which was amazing...and played songs from each of their seven albums. They didn't play any new ones I don't think....my guess is that they're saving those for the actual Canadian tour. Last night was basically a retrospective of their career...and my view is that it was "for the fans....a special thank you for supporting the band for all these years."
(Wow...this is getting long...I'll wrap it up)
Mike was on fire...playing behind his head, jumping around...it was awesome. Ed's hair was long again...blowing in the wind and flopping all around. He didn't climb any rafters, but he did thankfully go at least a little bit nuts...hanging off some railing to the side...and handing a bottle of wine to the crowd during Crazy Mary! Matt went non-stop for basically three hours, which I was very impressed by. He went all-out the whole night. They played Yellow Ledbetter...but whipped out Baba O'Reilly to actually close, which was a great surprise. They turned all the lights on and I looked back up the hillside - I was simply amazed by the amount of people there.
After 15 years, they've still got it folks. I don't know how anyone can say that any other band is even in Pearl Jam's universe with a straight face. To those of you who were there, Cheers! Everyone else, get your hands on the DVD. This was a once in a lifetime experience. Oh yeah...a review: 15 out of 10. I'm sure I'm leaving a lot out, but this is getting too long.
I'll post some of my own personal pics later on.
